The Glove Everyone Ends Up Wearing

Walk onto almost any site and you’ll see them. Leather palm, fabric back, a stiff safety cuff. In the UK a lot of people call them rigger gloves. Elsewhere they’re just leather work gloves. Same idea either way: tough where the hand grips, cooler where it doesn’t, and cheap enough to replace when they finally wear through.

Split leather is the inner layer of the hide, the part left once the top grain has been taken off. It’s a little rougher than grain leather, but it’s thick, it copes well with abrasion, and it keeps the price sensible. That’s why it ends up on so many general handling jobs.

We’ve been making split leather work gloves for distributors and private label buyers for over 20 years. Nearly every order gets tweaked somehow: a different cuff, a second palm layer, a color that matches the buyer’s brand.

Split Leather Glove Styles We Make

Six common builds. Mix and match the palm, back and cuff to suit your market.

Split leather rigger glove with striped cotton back and rubberized cuff

Rubber cuff rigger gloves

Split leather palm, cotton or zeen back and a rubberized safety cuff that stands away from the wrist, so the glove comes off fast. The classic rigger glove.

Split leather work glove with cotton back and canvas cuff

Canvas cuff work gloves

Same palm, softer canvas cuff. A bit lighter and more flexible at the wrist, which a lot of people prefer for general handling.

Double palm split leather glove with PC cotton back

Double palm leather gloves

A second layer of leather across the palm, thumb or fingers, right where gloves wear out first. Good for rough materials, blocks, scaffolding and steel.

Fleece lined split leather glove with denim back

Fleece lined winter gloves

Split leather with a warm fleece lining and a denim back, for cold outdoor sites and winter work when a thin glove just will not do.

Full split leather work glove with rubber cuff

Full leather gloves

Leather on the back as well as the palm, for heavier work where fabric backs wear through too quickly.

Split leather glove with printed cotton zeen back

Printed and colored backs

Printed, striped or plain backs in your colors. An easy way to make a private label glove stand out on a shelf.

Leather Palm Work Gloves Wholesale for the US Market

Leather palm work gloves are one of those products every US hardware store, farm supply shop and safety distributor carries. That’s exactly why it pays to get the details right. Shelf appeal matters for retail, so do size runs and clear labeling, and for industrial buyers it’s mostly about price per dozen and consistency from one container to the next. We make rigger gloves in Sialkot for both kinds of buyers.

How shipping to the USA works

Most of our leather palm work gloves go out by sea from Karachi to the big US ports: New York and New Jersey, Savannah, Houston, and Los Angeles or Long Beach. Sea freight is the cheap way to move full cartons, and it usually takes four to six weeks door to door. In a hurry? Small and urgent orders can fly from Sialkot instead. It costs more, but the boxes land in about a week.

We quote FOB or CIF, and DDP when you’d rather not deal with customs yourself. Samples come by courier (DHL or FedEx) in a few days, so you can feel the leather before you commit to a bulk order. Leather gloves usually clear under HS heading 4203.29. Your customs broker will confirm the exact code and duty rate for your product, and we send the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin with every shipment. First time importing from Pakistan? Our guide to importing work gloves from Sialkot walks through it step by step.

US standards for work gloves

In the US, work gloves are usually described with ANSI/ISEA 105 ratings for cut, abrasion and puncture resistance. A plain leather palm glove is mainly about abrasion and general handling, so most distributors sell riggers as general purpose gloves rather than cut resistant ones. If you want a tested rating on the header card, let us know when you ask for a quote and we’ll talk through testing for that style. We don’t print claims a glove hasn’t earned.

Want to understand the styles first? Read our rigger gloves guide. For a softer, tighter fit, our leather driver gloves sit nicely next to riggers on the same shelf, and the full work gloves range shows everything we make.

Split Leather Gloves FAQ

What is split leather?

It is the lower layer of the hide, left after the smooth top grain is split off. It is thicker and rougher than grain leather and handles abrasion well, which makes it a good, affordable choice for work gloves.

What are rigger gloves?

Rigger gloves are leather palm work gloves with a fabric back and a stiff safety cuff. Our split leather gloves with a rubberized cuff are exactly this style.

Rubber cuff or canvas cuff, which is better?

A rubberized cuff is stiffer and slips off quickly, which suits site work. A canvas cuff is softer and more comfortable. Many buyers stock both.

Can you make them in our colors with our logo?

Yes. Palm color, back fabric, cuff color, logo and packaging can all be matched to your brand.

Can you pack rigger gloves for US retail?

Yes. Header cards, hang tags, UPC-ready labels and inner packs by the dozen are all standard requests from our US buyers.

Do you ship work gloves to the USA?

Yes, by sea to the main US ports or by air for small urgent orders. We quote FOB, CIF or DDP.
